The 46-year-old borough woman had gone into the Chase Bank on Main Street early Monday evening, leaving the toddler asleep in the car, one said.
The car was towed at 5:30 p.m., records show.
At 5:56 p.m., a police dispatcher got a 911 call from the mother saying her car was missing, responders said.
"The car was at the pound," one said. "The kid was in the backseat."
Police charged the mother with child endangerment, then released her pending a court hearing. They also notified child welfare officials to tend to the youngster, who was unharmed.
